Atorvastatin and Keto

At my last GI appointment last month my doctor told me to get my cholesterol checked. It had been high last time they checked in the summer last year. I went to the doctor last week and got my cholesterol checked. It was even higher than when they had checked last year. Originally my doctor told me that they would put me on a diet to lower it, but after seeing my results they concluded that it was too high for a diet to do any good. So now I am on a cholesterol medicine called atorvastatin.

So far there hasn't been any crazy side effects besides feeling mildly sore and sneezing more than usual -- weird, I know. I was definitely disappointed to hear that I had to take another medicine to combat the side effects of my UC medicine along with a vitamin called CoQ10 to combat the side effects of the new cholesterol medicine. But I will say taking the medication is worth it if it will help and prevent anything bad from happening.

I started this new medication less than a week ago and have a 6-week follow up appointment to see if the medicine is working. We'll see how it does!

Starting next week, I am also starting a keto diet. This decision was mainly due to the request of my mom. If all goes well, I will be feeling good all-around if the diet works. I am definitely curious to see how it goes. If anyone has any good recommendations for cheap keto snacks or breakfasts, feel free to share them in the comments.

April 10th, I have a colonoscopy scheduled to check the inflammation and/ or healing of my colon. If it looks good, I will be able to take less Rinvoq, which would be awesome. I will most likely post an update after the colonoscopy. Stay tuned!
